This simulation
demonstrates multiple partial textures defined by linked JPEG2000 image
files. The simulation includes a color shaded relief view of the whole
landscape (stored in the landscape file) and six linked color-infrared digital
orthophotoquad images, each of which covers only a portion of the landscape.
The DOQ images were acquired as compressed images in MrSID format and used
directly in that form in the Landscape Builder to create compressed JPEG2000
texture layers for the landscape file.
The simulation covers an area of 430
square kilometers (166 square miles) in and around the city of Roanoke,
Virginia, USA The southern portion of the scene includes the urban center of
the city and surrounding residential areas. The northern portion includes
agricultural lowlands and forested hill areas. Vegetation cover appears red
in the color-infrared DOQ images.
