MicroImages is now providing a free version of the TNT products for use by students and learning professionals. These TNTlite versions of the well known TNTmips and TNTview professional products limit only the sizes of the geographical data objects they can use or create. For example, images are restricted to 512 by 512 pixels, vectors to 500 polygons, database tables to 500 records, and so on. The free TNTlite products provide the same advanced, integrated, easy to use GIS, image processing, CAD, desktop mapping and cartography, and other spatial data analysis processes as MicroImages' professional products and run identically on all supported platforms, which include all popular workstation platforms; Windows 3.1, NT, and 95; and the Mac and Power Mac. All object types supported by the professional products (vector, CAD, TIN, database, and rasters of 1 to 128-bits per cell in binary, integer, or floating point number form) can be used providing they fall within the size restrictions imposed. The TNTlite products are also upgraded on the same quarterly schedule as the professional products. TNTlite products can be downloaded from MicroImages' web site at http://www.microimages.com, or ordered on CD-ROM for the cost of shipping and handling from MicroImages, Inc. 201 North 8th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, 68508-1347 USA. Additional features in TNT professional products also provided by TNTlite include raster, vector, CAD, and TIN display, editing, and interconversion; pin mapping (symbolic map overlays from database query); symbol, line, and fill pattern design tools; automated map legend generation; database query for selection and styling of points, lines, and polygons; interactive tabular selection and viewing for vector, CAD, and TIN objects; 3-D display; video capture; mosaicking; georeferencing and warping to many map projections; elevation mapping and orthoimage creation; classification and interpretation; statistical measurements; smart line-following; buffer zone creation; polygon fitting; watershed and viewshed analysis; screen and page layout including scale bars, map grids, and legends; outline annotation fonts and tools; and customization with the Spatial Manipulation Language. |
