View Terabyte Images Almost Instantly

[see press release in PDF format]

The following Technical Guides provide more details on how the TNT products exploit the multifile or tileset concept to provide almost instant access to a map or image independent of size and limited only by the maximum size of your storage device (e.g., terabytes). This unique raster functions as a single entity in all TNT display and analysis processes and can be built during import or in the mosaicking.

In this format an image of a terabyte in size can be viewed at any scale, extent, cell, size, and coordinate reference system in a fraction of a second from a hard drive or 1 to 4 seconds from DVD media. The uniform tile components of the single multifile raster object can also be irregular in shape such as DOQs or counties with only minor degradation of performance. Since the component rasters in uniform tile or the original files are in these common smaller file units, they still can be directly used in other software products.

Using multifile raster objects.

              Using the multifile raster object.

Linking up rasters into a single multifile raster object.

Exporting to create a single multifile raster object.

Using mosaic to directly create a multifile raster object.

Using inexpensive TNTview to link, import, and export a multifile raster.

Export to uniform JP2 or GeoJP2 tiles.

Example of large multifile raster objects.

Multifile raster object of 7.5 map quadrangles of Arkansas.

Free TNTatlas on DVD uses 1 meter color multifile image of Nebraska.

View seamless 1 or 2 meter color orthophoto coverage of 36 states.
