The following Technical Guides provide more details on how the TNT products
exploit the multifile or tileset concept to provide almost instant access to a
map or image independent of size and limited only by the maximum size of your
storage device (e.g., terabytes). This unique raster functions as a single
entity in all TNT display and analysis processes and can be built during import
or in the mosaicking.
In this format an image of a terabyte in
size can be viewed at any scale, extent, cell, size, and coordinate reference
system in a fraction of a second from a hard drive or 1 to 4 seconds from DVD
media. The uniform tile components of the single multifile raster object can
also be irregular in shape such as DOQs or counties with only minor degradation
of performance. Since the component rasters in uniform tile or the original
files are in these common smaller file units, they still can be directly used in
other software products. |
