PDF Files

Get Adobe's free Acrobat Reader

Some documents on MicroImages' Web site are in Adobe's "Portable Document Format", or "PDF."  PDF allows for detailed document layout and supports high-quality printing, yet it still retains a platform-independent digital file format. In order to view a PDF document, you need a program such as Adobe Acrobat or the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, which allow you open, read, and print PDF documents.

Get Adobe Reader

Viewing PDF Documents
With Adobe's free Acrobat® Reader 3.0 (or newer) and the most recent version of Netscape Navigator® or Microsoft® Internet Explorer, you can view PDF files directly in your browser window. For the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, simply download and install the version for your platform. Once you have Acrobat Reader installed on your computer, clicking on links to PDF files automatically launches the Reader plug-in and you can view, zoom, navigate, and print the PDF document directly in your browser window.

Page-at-a-time viewing
MicroImages' Web server is configured to allow page-at-a-time viewing of PDF documents. With page-at-a-time viewing, you don't have to wait for an entire document to download before you begin viewing and navigating the document. Here's what you need to have to view PDF documents a page a time:

  • The most recent version of Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator
  • A PDF file viewer--we recommend the free Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 or newer.

What if I just want to download the file?
By default, during a page-at-a-time download, Adobe Acrobat Reader displays the first page in your browser window, and then continues to download the rest of the PDF file in the background. However, the PDF file is not saved to your disk unless you explicitly save the file. You may want to save PDF files to your local hard drive so you can view them offline. To do this, use your browser's "Save As" feature (usually located under the "File" in the menu bar).
