units or digital orthophoto quads (DOQs or DOQQs) and assembled into seamless state coverages in a special web-oriented JPEG2000 format using Microlmages' TNTmips geospatial analysis product.
Why some states have missing coverage ...
The statewide coverages are hosted by Microlmages' TNTserver product. TNTserver is a Web Map Service (WMS) certified as compliant with this specification of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). These state images can also be combined for use with imagery, maps, and other layers from WMSs offered by other web sites.
There are many map and image layers available from thousands of web sites offering them for viewing as standard WMS layers. For example, Microlmages' WMS provides access to statewide soil type maps; 10-, 30-, and 90-meter digital elevation layers; and various other global geodata.
You need a WMS browser to locate and select WMS layers for viewing as composite maps in the viewers listed. Microlmages provides TNTmap FREE for Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, and Opera as a web application, as a downloadable executable program, and as an Apple widget via apple.com.
