Hyperspectral Data

Cuprite Project Files

To illustrate the use of the Hyperspectral Analysis process, a sample scene from NASA's Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS) is provided. This sensor collects data in 224 contiguous spectral bands with a bandwidth of 0.10 µm. Each 20-m square cell in the scene has a continuous spectrum over the range from 0.4 to 2.5 µm. The scene covers the Cuprite mining district in western Nevada, USA. Rocks in several areas of the scene have been altered and mineralized by hot water solutions (hydrothermal alteration), creating concentrations of alteration minerals that provide good targets for spectral analysis.
