Scripting

Create Custom Features and Enhancements for the TNT products

Scripting in the TNT products supports a wide variety of customization.  You can add everything from simple pushbutton tools to complex customized processes.  TNT's geospatial scripting language (SML) is used in complete stand-alone scripts, element selection queries, and all kinds of custom processes, tools, and applications.

If you are new to scripting in TNTmips, start with the following tutorial booklets:
Geospatial Scripting
Building and Using Queries
Using CartoScripts
Writing Scripts with SML
Building Dialogs in SML
Using Geospatial Formulas

Also find the numerous Scripting Technical Guides with information about custom processing scripts, Queries: element selection and display style, CartoScripts, GeoFormulas, Display Control Scripts: DataTips and GraphTips, Macro Scripts, Tool Scripts, the TNT Script Builder, Pipeline Scripts, Scripts By Jack, and XML.

  • Technical Guides on scripting
document thumbnails and links to PDFs
  • Custom Processing scripts
    create unique processes not found in the standard TNT features; automate a sequence of steps that invoke TNT processes or external programs;

  • Script Builder Samples
The Script Builer provides a visual interface for creating SML scripts.

  • Pipeline Scripts
    scripts that
take direct advantage of the internal pipeline architecture in the TNT products for fast, efficient processing
  • Scripts by Jack™ and FAQs by Jack™
An expert user shows how to handle imagery and GIS data
  • Use XML to build SML Dialogs
create custom dialog windows for your SML scripts
  • Display Control Scripts: DataTips and GraphTips
    dynamically pop-in location-sensitive information
  • Macro Scripts
customized macros that operate on geospatial data in the View window; change the view, operate on the data, send data to an external program, access from icon button or dropdown menu
  • Tool Scripts
graphic tools to select or operate on geodata in the View window; use drawing tools to select features or elements; choose tool controls and see results in a dialog window
  • TNTsim3D scripts
add custom effects and capabilities to TNTsim3D simulations by using SML scripts
  • Queries
element selection and display style by attribute
  • GeoFormula scripts
computed display layer that uses one or more input objects to derive a result for display; combine objects "on the fly" rather than running separate processes to prepare output objects for display
  • Geologic CartoScripts
design custom map symbols for lines and points in vector and CAD objects
  • APPLIDATs
self-contained, turnkey geospatial application products; bundle the application plus the data in a deliverable product that loads the data and script simultaneously
  • 3D Movie Simulation scripts
animated 2D and 3D "flyby" movies; choose an elevation surface, drape layers, flight path, viewpoint, and orientation
